Reporting Child Abuse

As a mandated reporter, child care workers have a legal obligation to report any suspected child abuse (usually to a designated state child welfare or law enforcement agency, depending on your state's rules). Hopefully, training has taught them that, often, the signs of child abuse are invisible. In fact, only about a quarter of reported child maltreatment cases each year involve physical abuse.

CCEI offers several courses on child abuse, including CCEI112A: Child Abuse: Signs of Abuse and Reporting Requirements for Early Childhood Professionals, in addition to the other resources you will find in the newsletter link above.
