Sudden Infant Death Syndrome

Sudden infant death syndrome (SIDS) is the sudden, unexplained death of an infant younger than one year old. Some people call SIDS "crib death" because many babies who die of SIDS are found in their cribs. SIDS is the third leading cause of death among newborn infants in the United States. More alarmingly, SIDS is the leading cause of death among otherwise healthy infants between the ages of 2 and 4 months. For more information on SIDS, read CCEI's October Newsletter!
